To familiarize the freshmen wo- men with rushing rules a pamph- let will be distributed during Orien- tation week. Winifred Root, '32, who is chairman of the rushing committee, is in charge of the ma- terial for the pamphlet which has already been sent to the printers. Josephine Timberlake, '32, presi- dent of Panhellenic, will speak to the freshman women at the meet- ings which are to be held in the Lydia Mendelssohn Theatre of the League building. Some of the rules and suggestions are as follows: Invitations to initial teas will be delivered to the mail boxes of wo- men during the morning of Satur- day, September 26. Freshman should attend all the Saturday and Sunday teas to which they are asked. They should stay not longer than three quarters of an hour at each house. Women, must accept or refuse any enclosed invitations to a party either at the house, or by telephone before 11 o'clock Sunday evening September 27. Flowers Take Dignity From Academic Dress I wish to call to the attention of the senior women that the wearing of flowers with academic dresses is inappropriate on Baccalaureate Sunday and at Commencement day exercises. The cap and gown is for- mal academic dress and the wear- ing of flowers detracts from the dignity of the costume. Alice MW. Besides including everything that I they had this year, the intramural department is planning to intro- duce four new sports on their pro-1 gram next year. There will be:l clock golf, volley ball, deck tennisl and quoits. The advantage of volley ball and deck tennis is that they can be played inside as well as outdoors and courts will be set up in Barbour gymnasium and on Palmer field so that the tournaments need not be held up because of bad weather. The League house system which was introduced this year and has been largely experimental so far, was unusually successful and even more co-operation is expected from it next year. as everyone will be more familiar with it. It will be carried out just as it was this year and in the fall, Miss Ethel McCormick, social director, and Miss Marie Hartwig, of the physical education department, will give short talks at each leagu : house explaining the intramural program to all of the women and then the houses will placed in var- ious groups to form teams and participatesin the intramural ac- tivities. This year, the department con- centrated on swimming, changing it from a minor to a major sport and presenting a cup to the winner at the end of the season. Next year, it is planned to concentrate on tennis and golf and to choose teams in these sports. The winner and the runner-up in the finals of the tour=- naments will play in mixed four- somes with the men. Another change which will prob- ably be made is to choose all-star teams in each intramural sport just as it has been the custom to choose one in baseball. Muchrcredit for the success of this year's intramural season goes to the dormitories and many of the sororities for the splendid co-oper- ation which they have shown; GUARANTEED Half Soles and Rubber Heels E CALL 95CDIAL DELIVERY6898 FRE AND .4 COLLEGE SHOE SHO 426 Thompson Henry O. These consist of a jabot-like collar, a short peplum and short, pert sleeves. The second model uses a modern ninon with a large pattern of gray shadowed flowers on a chartreuse- green ground. It has a deep cape collar forming short sleeves and continuing into a sash that loops' in long ends at one side. The cir- cular skirt joins the blouse in a shaped line. The costumes are completed by light straw hats with matching rib- bons and long white gloves. Whether for sport, afternoon or evening the short sleeve has full sway. It is comfortable for sport clothes, cool and light for after- noon, and smart and new for eve- ning. An evening wrap was dis- played in a shop window the other day made of white velvet with short doman sleeves which allows for the beauty of long gloves.
