A total of 25 teams took part inj the six sports on the calendar for thie year, including: Volley Bali, Basketball, ,Bowling, Track, Relays, and Ba is: all. In these sports the champions amassed 537 points, standing well out ahead of the next nearest team, the Actuaries who had a total of .348. Third place wa,s still further removed, Fletchier Hall with 201 points. On their mar'ch to victory the Michiganders won the titles in two of the above sports, namely, Track and Baseball. The Shamrocks also took a pair of crowns, winning_ the Relays and the Bowling meets. The other two events went as follows : Volley Ball to the : hinese Students, fifth place team; and :Basketball to the Lawyers, who ended up as fourth team in the final standings. jJay Bouwman has been the man- ager in charge of the winning team and he will receive a trophy cup for his good work. Each member oif the championship team will receive a gold medal that has been espe- cially inade up for the occasion. In addition the team picture will be placed on the trophy shield in 'the lobby of the Intramural Building. The Michiganders finished sixth last year,. the Buckeyes winning the trophy with 492 points, so their rise to fame this year speaks well for both the manager and each mem-' e ftenwta.Arpae effort will be made next year for another award, according to the announcement of the team man- ager, which puts some interest in- to the race already. This marks the end of the second year of a definite independent team program on the Intramural sports calendaxr and. next year the pro- gram will be considerably enlarged to include more non-fraternity men on the campus, according to offs- cial announcement. It is under- stood' that many of the teams of the present year will be represented in this improved program of sports.
