A-C Horse~h e Meet Play in the All-Campus horse- shoe doubles tournament on the Intramural spring sports calendar will be wound up this afternoon with the playing of one semi-final match and the finals pairing for the title. The games will be held in the order named at 5:00 and 5:45 this afternoon. l In the first match Baldwin and Tyler will. meet the track stars, Brooks and Tolan, to see which team fiets the right to go on to encounter Brown and Ross, already in the final brace. The latter pair reached their present status by downing the Alpha Phi Alpha pair of brothers, Simmons and Simmons 2'to 1. The actual competition in the good old sport of "barnyard golf" will 'not take long this evening, but the rivalry is high and the teams battling with the horses' hoofs will probably end up with some very close scores before one of them wins the right to hold the trophy of- fered. PHI SIGMA DELTA HAIS IFAVORED P N I NE With 41 Consecutive Victories Piled up This Team Awaits Play in Finals.} By Charles Sanford, I-M Sports Editor. There seems to b_ no team capa- ble of stopping Phi Sigma Delta from winning the"I fourth consecu- tive inter-fraternity baseball cham-' pionship as sponsored by the Intra- mural Department. Over a span of four years this fraternity has not lost a game and it is fast becoming a tradition in Intramural sports that when the Phi Sigs take the field in baseball. they are going to come off again victors. By defeating Alpha Omega, 6-3, two days ago they rang up their 41st consecutive victory se- ting a record that is well worth the attention of anybody, They were forced to beat Alpha Omega twice since a protest was registered and allowed over the first game. This merely meant so much more time spent on the dia- mond for these men, or so it would seem from the result. Alpha Omega is to be complimented on willing- ness to tackle them twice. Although their next game is ac- tually scheduled for tonight, Phi Sigma Delta will have to wait until tomorrow night at the earliest, when they will play the winner of the Beta Theta Pi and Phi Kappa Sigma contest. This latter game is a league tie still pending playoff. In spite of being the overwhelm- ing favorites in this race, there is always a chance that they will be toppled from the top, and if any team beats them it is believed that Alpha Kappa Lambda is the one. They have a heavy hitting aggre- gation and this combined with pitching that rivals that of Hank Weiss makes them the logical upset favorites this year. TYPEWRITINd AN'D Graphing. Ohio State is also much stronger than last year, Florio being added to Kepler and Wilson to form a potentially strong combination. Few of the other schools as a team can be counted on to provide much competition, but most of them boast at least one star capable of carry- ing off individual honors. The race for individual honors should be well worth watching. Dick Martin, last year's winner, is any- thing but secure on the top of his throne, and will have such stars as Capt. Royston, of Michigan; Kep- ler, of Ohio State; Bassett and Cook, of Purdue; and Stewart and Page of Wisconsin to contend with, not to mention his teammate, Capt. Lyon of Illinois. In addition to those named, the remainder of the Wolverine squad, namely Lenfesty, Howard, and Hand are all consistently good medalists, and with the added advantage of playing over their own course they should make a determined bid for individual honors. Tis work win remove the ratner ugly aspect of horseshoe courts that has been noticeable before, and at the same time give the De- partm entnthe added badmintonfa- cilities. In this manner, the direc- tors hope to build up the interest in both this oldest of sports and one of the newest games on the market. Play will not be restricted on the new courts except in the case of tournaments in seasons to come, and the principle will be that of first come first served. For badmin- ton, if the players will furnish the shuttles necessary to play, the In- tramural directors will contribute the rackets also quite necessary, as long as the limited equipment lasts.
