Both of these teams should give the Wolverines a hard fight to come out on top. On Saturday afternoon the Wol- verines will play the only scheduled tennis match of the week against Illinois. With only one defeatj though the excellent play of Rex- inger provided the margin by which the Chicago duo took the decision in three sets, 8-6, 4-6, 6-2. This match was characteristic of the meet however, with the Wol- verines all leading by large mar- gins on the out nines and then coming in with much closer play. This was in the afternoon, in the morning it was all Michigan. Jolly's win was over Schweitzer, Sherwood's at the expense of Cor- nel, while Hand took the measure of Skinner with the best score of the meet. While all the players shot good golf there were not any exceptionally low scores, although a few seventies of which the above reserve man's was the lowest for the day. The showing of the subs was gratifying in each case and re- vealed much that Trueblood has hoped lay in his reserve squad. The yarsity's next competition will come this week when they travel to Olympia Fields in Chi- cago Tuesday for thermeeththere Wednesday. From there they go to the University of Illinois Thurs- day, will practice there onFriday and play a scheduled meet with the Indian fairway squad Satur- day. This makes a full week for the team and a tough one too but they are ready for it. The result of this meet is some- what of a surprise for Detroit City college was supposed to have an aggregation of mashie wielders that would push the Wolverines to take the meet. Evidently the visiting squad was overestimated while at the same time the strength of the Maize and Blue team was not fully accounted for. If the men can get their scores down as a team a little lower and continue to play such a consistent game they should have little trouble in setting down the teams that Chicago and Illinois will stack up against them in the meets of the coming week.
