ious expeditions.
Dr. Cass, is listed as being pro-
fessor of historical geology and
paleontology, and for 20 years be-
ing associated with the Carnegie
institution of Washington. He has
conducted 34 expeditions for fossil
collecting in American fields. He
was the past president of the Pale-
ontological Society of America.

Two Pilots Land Burning Plane
Near Aberdeen, Indiana,
With No Injuries.
ABERDEEN, Ind., May l0.-(4P-
Aircraft experts today sought to
discovei the cause of a fire aboard
an Eastern Air Transport plane
that made a forced landing at
Edgewood arsenal with smoke pour-
ing from the cabin containing 18
passengers, none of whom was in-
jured. As the craft touched the
ground flames burned a hole in
the lower left wing. Soldiers assist-
ed the passengers, one a woman, to
a light.
The plane, en route from Rich-
mond to New York Friday after-
noon, was flying at an altitude of
1,500 feet when the pilot, A. C.
Komdat, observed smoke filling the
control room. Five miles away he
saw the landing field at Edgewood
and nosed the big plane down. The
co-pilot, G9. J. MacDonald, tried to
get at the flames 1with an extin-
guisher but was unsuccessful.
A second plane was summoned
from Washington and eight of the
;passengers continued their journey.
The rest made plans to complete
their trip by rail.

has lost his voice temporarily and
has had to cancel Friday night's
performance.
