However, under the conditions, several of the men turn- ed in highly respectable cards. Royston, the Wolverine captain, led' the attack on 'old man Par' by completing 15 holes in the morning in only one over regulation figures., Hand, in his singles match with Fredericks, contributed thenext best effort. of the day when he carded an excellent 77, to easily win three points; Jolly Given Chance. After the completion of the morning round, Coach Trueblood, decided to give Jolly a chance to display his wares against the in- vaders instead of Livingston. Al-t though the diminutive Wolverine lost all three points in his match he played very well and justified the coach's choice. The Wolverine siege guns made a clean sweep of the morning doubles.I Howard and Lenfesty defeating Rogers and Wilson while Capt. Roy- ston and Livingston were disposing' of Damaske andsFredericks. Lenfesty Loses. In the afternoon singles, Len- festy, ranking number one man on the- Wolverine Varsity, took a neat trimnilng at the hands of Capt. Ollie Rpgers: The match was close fought throughout, with the stocky Michigan star very much in the running until the home green. There, confronted by much the same sort of putt that he had in the meet last week, the big Wol- verine found that the hole in the green was a little bit too small, and was forced tocontent himself with 1/2 point while Rogers reaped the major share of the spoils with 21/2 points. Royston and Hand succeeded in capturing their matches to give thel Maize and Blue a safe margin of victory., 120-yard high hurdles-Won by Scheifley (Minn.), Egleston =(M) second, Haefele (MI) third. Starting Monday and continuingl through until next Sunday, the qualifying rounds of the All-Cam-1 pus Golf tournament will be run off on the University Golf Course. A new ruling is announced by the committee in charge, namely, thatl the qualifying round will be limited to 18 holes instead of 36 as formerly stated for the tourney. The balance of the event will be run off in 18 hole matches until the contestants reach the semi- finals. Those rounds and the finals will consist of 36 holes. At present there are about 30 players entered for the qualifying matches from which number the ten lowest scores will be taken and bracketed for medal play. It is the plan of the event for this year that the University Golf course will be used exclusively and arrangements 1ave been made for I the compting players to get off the first tee without delay provided Buckeyes Take First in Quadrangular Meet CHICAGO, May 10. -P)- Ohio State's track and field squad, scor- ing in every event but one, today won the quadrangular meet, after a hammer and tongs battle with Wisconsin. The Buckeyes piled up 74 points, to 73 1/6 for the Badg- ers. Chicago and Northwestern ac- counted .for 15 and 13 1/3 points respectively. I After an upset victory for North- western in the one-mile relay ap- parently had ruined Ohio's chance of winning the meet, Smith and Goldstein took second and third in the javelin, the final event, to give the Buckeyes the needed point. The meet was hotly contested all the way and the result of almost every event caused the lead to change. NEW YORK -- Red Woodworth, Northiwestern gridiron star, won the 132- ile motor boat race from Al- bany to New York yesterday. His time for the trip was three hours and ten minues. 21413 320 E. LIBERTY each man does not fail to bring his notification card, which is the only way the course management will have of knowing who is en- titled to the privilege. The furtier caution is issued that all contest- ants be at the course on time to prevent late starts or a cruwded course that may hinder favorabi c play. Award is Offred. Awards for this event on theat-- letic calendar of the Intramal Department will be a loving cup trophy for the winner and a go ld medal for the runner-up, honors for the tourney of last spring are at present in the proud possession of A. D. Crosby and R. D. Robinson, neither of which men are entered in the competition again this year. Of the entries for qualifieation , there are at least four players that are worthy of special attention. R. S. Montague, who has played with the Varsity golf team shoots a good game that will keep him high in the running. W. V. Park, who was the honor man of last year's freshman golf team, is another consistently good player that is favored. Jack Kirby competed last year and plays a fairly good game that is worthy of following, while the fourth man of interest is Harvey Bauss, not especially because of his game but because he is out for everything under the sun this spring in a con - centrated effort to win the Individ- ual and All-Around Championship. Eight Play Monday. Four matches will start the quali fying rounds off Monday afternoun. Clark will play Kelley starting at noon; Bauss will tackle Calzery at two o'clock; Yates and Fryer will have started just one hour previous; and Murphy with Bayerle will close the days matches, starting off the first tee at approximately 3:30 p. m. Complete schedules of the re- mainder of the week will be an- nounced in the Daily as soon as they are completely drawn up, but there will also be notification cards sent to each player giving the time and opponent of his match. In the event that such card is lost, the contestant must report to the In- tramural offices and secure a dupli- cate in order to play. !NOTICE-6%-C log term mortgage lbans on ncw Ann Arbor homes without boxuv or seiie charge. vyd0 M.
