This afternoon will witness the conclusion of the Freshman indoor season. Dr. George 'May, in charge of Freshman physical education, will be in charge of the indoor meet, and will greet all candidates for honors in wrestling and the penthathlon at 3:30 o'clock. All first year men are invited to par- ticipate in the events. This event is gradually coming to, assume one of the outstanding posi- tions on the entire yearling calen- dar and a large number of partici- pants seems assured. The penthathlon will consist of the running high jump, 50-yard dash, rope climb, standing broad jump, and a foul shooting contest. The pairings for the wrestling meet as announced by Dr. May will bring Landrum and Shapiro togeth- er in the 115-pound class, followed by Larock and Maeyana in the 125- pound class. The remainder of the pairings follow: 135-pound, Freed- man vs. Kruger; 145-pound, Kasa- bach vs. Clark; 155-pound, Stiegel- man vs. Siragusa; 165-pound, White vs. Ponto; and 175-pound, McCauley vs. Singer. The fielding yesterday was good and the game in general was all right, but there were no runs scored except in the two mentioned cases. The practice showed that the play- ers are picking up and getting into better shape and .there should be no more exhibitions such as last Saturday's. After the game the men were given an infield workout to make full use of the fine weather. Will Hold Trials. Under yesterday's clear skies, the Wolverine tracksters, recent win- ners of the 1931 Western Confer- ence indoor championship, went through their paces at Ferry Field with the added zest given them by the warm sun. Tomorrow afternoon, trials will be held to decide the squad that will return early during the vacation period to practice for the events at Drake. Although the list of events to be entered by the Wolves has not been definitely decided yet, Hoyt is expecting to take a large squad on the trip in an effort to carry off the highest honors. To- morrow's trials will include the 220- yard dash, 880-yard run, one mile run, 120-yard high hurdles, and the broad jump. The men winning these trials in addition to several others will report for practice again next Wednesday. Cox in Hammer Event. Coach Hoyt is now planning on entering a one mile relay, a two mile relay, and possibly a sprint relay. Cox will be placed in the hammer competition to defend the Wolverine claims set up by Holly Campbell of Michigan in that event last year. Campbell took the only Michigan first at the 1930 Drake relays by tossing the hammer a distance of 148 feet 1 1-2 inches, bettering his nearest opponent by more than seven inches. Eddie Tolan, colored flash, and Jack Campbell, veteran Wolverine sprinter, will also be entered in the sprints. Tolan was beaten out last year in the 100-yard dash by Le- land of Texas Christian, and Bra- cey of Rice, the winners time be- ing :09.6. seconds. The Michigan relay teams turned in a fine record last year taking three seconds: The Wolves finished second to Illinois in the 440-yard event, and again trailed the Illini over the line in the 880-yard relay.
