"Stop! Now begin again, eight
measures from the end. That is the
slide step." After seeing one re-
hearsal of "Came the Dawn" it
strikes the observer that if Amy
Loomis, director of the production,
had to put it on with a one-man
company composed of herself, she
could do it.
If an actor, or several actors, are
missing from a rehearsal, M i s s

For' the third consecutive year,
Adclia- Cheever took first honors
with the most attractive booth at
the Penny Carnival. This year,
their entry was "The Old Dutch
Mill," an elaborately eonstructed
edifice, which provided entertain-
abent with a bow and arrow contest.
Alpha Omicron Pi, conducting a
check room, cleared with the lar-
est profit of all houses participat-
ing in the carnival.
Theta Phi Alpha, with a psycho-
analysis booth, was awarded honor-
able mention, as was Martha Cook
dormitory's booth entitled "The
Desert Nightingale." Martha Cook's
offering was unusually beautiful
pictorially, in the opinion of the
judges, and featured vocal selec-
tions by Josephine Ruison, '31.
The judging committee was comn-
)posed of Dr. Margaret ]Bell, Miss
Ethel McCormick, and Mrs. Dorothy
Hall. Presentation of the awards,
which consisted of boxes of candy,
has already been made.
Complete figures for the receipts
for the carnival are not yet avail-
able, according to Jean Botsford,
'33, general chairman of the event,
but it was expected that a large
margin of profit would; be totaled.

Opening a series of rifle matches,
which will continue throughout the
month, the women's rifle team shot
telegraphic matches with four oth-
ss,, ~s zer colleges last week.
The schools which competed in
the match and the scores are Louis-
iana State college, 489; University
of South Dakota, 489; University of
,. Kentucky, 489; and the University
$y , of Maryland, 499. The local team
shot a score of 472. Kansas State
1 griculture college was scheduled
y. '4:~* ~'to shoot, but did not due to a de-
fault.
The rifle team will shoot against
five schools each week, the hours
usually being from 4 to 6 o'clock on
Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.I
