In the 1929 summer session of
the. School of Education, a series
of educational conferences was of-
fered, extending over a period of';
lyve weeks. This summer the pro-
gram is to be continued as before.'
Present day problems of education
will be discussed at these confer-
ences by specialists in the fields
concerned. The subjects for the
comling series are Vocational Guid-
ane,; Elementary Education, ~c-;
inistration and Supervision, Pre-
primary. Education, and Secondary
1tducation. The meetings are for
enrlled students and educators
who are able to spend1 only part of
their time at the University.
To Have Graduate Groups. j
In addition to the undergraduate
conferences, there are to be grad-I
uate discussion groups which are,
expected to aid in the organization;
cif a non-resident graduate club be-
sides the educational aspect of the
meetings. The conferences of the
graduates will. be of particularI
value 'to those who are interestedi
in the work of the Alumni Univer-
sity. They are to 'begin on Monday
afternoon July 21, and continue
until fIhursday, July 24. A program
of entertainment has been arrang-
ed to accompany the regular meet-
ing schedule. The events of this
program will be announced at the1
first' assemnbly of the group.
The summer session df 1930 is to
have in addition to the educational
programs ,manry outside activties (
for those attending. Definite ar-
rangements have been made fori
public'lectures, concerts, excursions,
and social gatherings, as well as }
recreational opportunities afforded4
by tlik FField House and outdoor
sQagrt facilities. It is expected that
these provisions will permit the
students to meet and exchange ex-
perience which might prove of
value.E
The undergraduate conferences
will ill be given at 4 o'clock in the1
University high school on Monday, {
Tuesday and Wednesday afternoons?
starting July 7 and running through
until August 13. The graduate con-
ferences will extend from July
21-24.1

In spite of some troublesome op-

man, a few stout-hearted first year
students succeeded last Thursday
night in duplicating the feat of last
year's freshman class, in anchor-
ing their colors at the top of the
University flag pole. Though the
wind and rain must have presented
considerable difficulty, the yearlings
planted the flag so firmly that the

had to resort to strenuous methods
in removing -it. The bill for the
freshman class was $25, a sizeable
reduction from the costs incurred
by last year's class which had to
pay the department $50 for its de-
