The Wolverines went through three matches against the strong- est teams in the Conference, Ohio State, Illinois, and Chicago, without! a loss, and thus are claimants of the Big Ten dual meet champion- ship. Captain Ken Stolpman and Bob Gordon featured yesterday's match with the Maroons, each winning all his bouts. Michigan won the foils bouts, 6-3, and annexed the sabers, 3-1, but dropped three out of four! bouts to the visitors in the epee. Saccerdoti starred for Chicago, win- ning three matches. Stfpman Wins Three. In the opening foils matches Captain Stolpman made a clean sweep of his three bouts, defeat- ing Friedman, 5-4; Wallace, 5-1; and Saccerdoti, 5-1. In nine Big Ten foils matches this season, Stolpman lost only to Damore of Ohio State. Len Friedman won two out of three bouts for the Wolver- ines, beating his cousin, Friedman! of Chicago, 5-4, and Saccerdoti, 5- 4.. He lost, however, to Captain Wallace of the invaders by a 5-2 score. Lovell of Michigan won from Friedman, 5-4, but lost to Saccerdoti, 5-3; and to Wallace, 5-1. Bob Gordon ended the Conference season without being bested in dual competition in the sabers, defeat- ing Goldberg and VanHorn, both by 5-3 scores. Goldberg had hereto- fore been undefeated.' Hammer of Michigan divided his saber bouts,, losing to Goldberg, 5-2, but beating, VanHorn, 5-4., Gordon Wins Award. Michigan's only epee victory came when Dowsettivanquished Wallace 2-0.
