HOOSIERS ARE WEAK Swimming practice has been re- sumed with renewed vigor since the holiday season with the first Conference meet scheduled for Sat- urday, January 18, against Indiana. Coach Matt Mann has been work- ing hard with the champions in an- ticipation of annexing another Con-. ference title again this season. With a group of fast veterans and Several promising swimmers from last year's freshman team, the var- sity squad will be capable of giv- ing any of their opponents a stiff race., Already they have won three pre-season affairs. This year's crack yearling team bowed to them in the initial meet and later the Fort Wayne Y. M. C. A. was swamp- ed under a huge score. Win First Places. On December 3 the Wolverine," took four first places in the Mich- igan A. A. U. meet held in the new Intramural pool, and on the fol- lowing night won four out of seven events from the Detroit Yacht club to take the meet by the score of 42-32. On the day following the team's return from the Indiana contest, they will go to Detroit to partici- pate in another A. A. U. meet. Coach Mann also announced that the Toronto Y. M. C. A. will come to Ann Arbor on January 25 for a dual meet with the Wolverines. Exams Force Break. -Practice sessions will be partially suspended for two weeks during the final exam period, but the coaches have arranged for the squad to put on an exhibition meet Thursday February 13, at Grand Rapids. The following week the Michigan nata- tors will travel to East Lansing to encounter Michigan State in a dual meet there. The date of the second Big Nine meet is set for February 22 when Minnesota comes here. On Febru- ary 28, Northwestern will offer op- position for the Wolverines at Ev- anston. An additional contest has been scheduled with the Chicago A. A. for the day following the meet with the Wildcats. Point to Big Test.
