'BADGER RESERVES WILL PLAY COLLEGE TEAMS (Special Ito Te L ad, MADISON, Wis., Dec. 12-Inter- 'collegiate competition for reserve basketball teams of the University of Wisconsin was approved by -the Badger athletic council at its meet- mg Monday night and Director George Little was authorized - to proceed with the formation of a schedule. The innovation was proposed by Dr. Walter E. Meanwell, Wisconsin varsity basketball coach, who is confident it will greatly stimulate interest-in the game. "The reserve team will be an in- tegral part of the Varsity basket- ball organization. Do not call the I reserves a "B" team," in anticipation of the year's open- er against Washington, Missouri Valley champion, here Saturday night. Although the Boilermakers f upset Don White's crew in an early season game last year, the Bears turned right around and won the Missouri Valley title with an All- victorious record, in addition to de- cisively defeating Oklahoma, Big Six champions, in a pair of tilts, and Lambert is expecting a real tussle. Stretch Murphy and Herman Boots, regular members of last year's Purdue five, are practically certain of starting against Wash- ington, but there is some doubt whether Glen Iarmeson, flashy for- ward, will be in the fray, as he has been given a long "recuperation" period to rest up from football, and it is doubtful whether he will be in shape for the season's opener.
