PLAN VARIED ADDRESSES Five members of the speech de- partment will attnd and take an active part in the 14th annual con- vention of the National Association of Teachers of Speech to be held at New York, it was announced to- day. The convention will extend from December 30 to January 2. Prof. James M. O'Neill, head of the speech department will give an address on "More Diversified Grad- uate Curricula." Professor O'Neill will also have charge of a discus- sion program on "Administration." Prof. John H. Muyskens will have charge of a program on "The Use of Laboratory Material in Teach- ing." Prof. G. E. Densmore, head of the Michigan High School * Debating League; will give an address on the topic ,"Is Interest in Debating, De- creasing or Increasing?" In addi- tion, Professor Densmore will give a committee report on extra-cur- ricular activities. Prof. Louis M. Eich has charge of a discussion program on "Oral Interpretation," at which four readers of distinc- tion will read a group of lyric poems. Mr. Lloyd K. Riley, varsity debating coach will give a talk on "The Trend of Rhetoric During the Nineteenth Century." TRAIN IS CAUGHT BY PLANE FLIGHT An airplane flight enabled Jane Hickey, '30, to make a train con- nection Tuesday when was sum- moned to Salt Lake City because of the critical illness of her brother, it was learned yesterday. Miss Hickey made arrangement to leave Ann Arbor immediately on the Michigan Central, making con- nections with the Los Angeles Lim- ited at' Chicago, but missed the train. A friend communicated with Lieut. Leonard S. Flo, president of the Flo Flying Service, Inc., and Miss Hickey hurried to the airport. With Erwin F. Skodopole piloting an open cockpit plane, Miss Hickey was landed at the Jackson airport just 27 minutes later and after a fast automobile trip to town she caught the train.
