In fact, to begin the week, he put his proteges through one of the most intensive drills they have had this season. The entire practice session was devoted to strict drilling with no call for scrimmage. Signal drill was especially emphasized and the Orange and Black gridders were inspired with the cry of "Beat Michigan." The Illinois squad emerged from the skirmish with Iowa last Satur- day, unscathed. It was well for them that they did, for there is a dearth of reserve material at the. Illini camp this year, and any seri- ous injury to one of their regu- lars might put them in a shaky po- sition this early in the season. Only seven substitutions were made in the entire game against Iowa last week, three of these be- ing sophomores. They were Kawal- at center, and Yanuskus and Root, halfbacks. This is something new for Illinois, for during most of their successful seasons they have had two or three capable men fcc each position. Zuppke has made no changes in. his lineup as yet. The first team., lined up for practice as follows: Wolgast and Jolley, ends; Gordon and Burdick, tackles; Crane and Roush, guards; Kalaw, center; Pet- ers, quarterback; Timm and Mills, halfbacks; and Humbert, fullback.. The second eleven was composed of Mallin and Steinman, ends; Hills and Bodman, tackles; Huddleston and Conover, guards; and Schu- macker, center. In the backfield, there was Chattin, Walker, Evans, and Lanum. Illinois' tie with the Hawkeyes and Michigan defeat at the hands of Ohio State last week shows promise of a hard fought battle Saturday. Both teams are eager to stage a comeback, and Zuppke's men are bent on avenging them- selves for their defeat last year. Taking these facts into account, the opposing squads are certain to fight to the last minute of play when they meet in the Illinois ! stadium. ti 4 Dewey Smith's Barber Shop 0' Special Scalp Treatment for Dandruff Q arnd Unhealthy Hair FAN MASSAGES SOFT WATER SHAMPOO Courteous Service to Ladies and Children 1110 SOUTH UNIVERSITY -,,)'r -- O to '="' : p 9 >'.=lf ft".."'> C< )G 'l0< =: f2:"J>a'<= "r3 4 .j v i " ' ,- - 1. 1 1 , the barclay is a smart wing tipped oxford - with full brogue effect obtainable in br o w n and black grain.
