NEW MEMBERS WANTED Today's big social event is the open house being held by the Women's Athletic Association in the lounge of the Women's Field House. Last year's members of W. A. A. will act as hostesses to all who wish to drop in for tea, danc- ing, and primarily, to get acquaint- ed. W. A. A. wants to meet every woman who can spare a few min- utes during the afternoon from 3:30 to 6 o'clock. Many new members are wanted to help carry on the program that is being planned for this year. W. A. A. has already opened its sea- son's work with a hockey tourna- ment. Golf is being started Satur- day, and the date for the opening of the archery contest will be an- nounced in a short while. A tennis tournament is under way; there is to be the annual swimming meet; probably an in- tercollegiate riflery challenge, and Intermural and Intcrclas base- ball and basketball. Orchesis, which puts on a dance drama each year, and Pegasus, which gives an accomplished Horse Show, are under W. A. A. supervision. Lantern night, the baseball ban- quet that officially closes the sports season, and the Penny Car- nival, are all W. A. A. traditions. A.A.U.W TO HOLD JNITIAL MEETING The Ann Arbor Association of University Women will meet at their first regular meeting ever held in the Michigan League at 3 o'clock on Saturday, October 26, in the Ballroom. The meeting will start with a reception and the wel- coming of new members. Dr. Hereward Price, a new mem- ber of the English department will deliver the talk of the afternoon. Dr. Price is in charge of the work here on the Oxford Dictionary, and has received his A.B. degree in Oxford, England, and his Ph.D. froni Bonn University, Germany. His topic will be, "Germany Since the Revolution." All women eligible to member- ship in the Association are cor- dially invited to attend.
