. PAMTW THE MICHIGAN DAILY FRIAYOCYTBER i8, 1929 E1NGLEFRIED OTI PLANS [FORN., L1, Michigan- Chapter Holds Initial Meeting; Industrial Motion Pictures Schieduled. 'tentative plans for the cuirrent year were outlined by Henry E~ngle- fried, president of the Michigan chapter of the National Society of Industrial Engineers, at the first meeting of that, organization, held Wednesday afternoon in Room 229, West Engineering building. Among some of the suggestions ' offered was one concerning the showing of a series of motion pic- tures of industry which will be of interest not only to the engineeringj students, but also to students of business administration and eco- nornics. If the present plans; are carried out, lecturers will be pro~- vided to give illustrative Ualks on the pictures. SCREEN REFLECTIONS pictuyre of the Year FEoDeens,"Western melodra- !mra which expiires at the Majestic today, is hereby nominated for the best picture of the year 1919. Fall- ing bigs shielding heroes, wick- ) ed chor iiil,,and what not fea- ture this one per cent talking thril- The p~lot concerns the construc- tion of a railroad bridge in the Wrest and its chief engineer who sacrifices his reputation to save his employer's wrongdoing. The cast, which deserved a much better pic- ture, includes Monte Blue, May Mc- Avoy, and Lee Moran. There were possibilities of an ex- cellent production, for the locale was picturesque and several of the situations novel and amusing, but the film as a whole falls flat. War- ne;r Brothers have produced some big Vitaphone hits, but this one's way down the bottom of the heap. Then again you might like it. Who knows? B. J. A. John G.
