ever since their Labor Day activ-.
ities in the shape of paving-block
filching were discovered, will be

The much talkied of paving
block~s disappeared over Labor Day
from Detroit St. to the number of
10,000 and were not discovered to
be missing for almost three weeks.
At that date the Ann Arbor sleuths,
comprised of the city engineer, a
detective, and a Daily News re-
porter, to say nothing of others,
got onto a hot scent that the miss-!
ing roadway t;oits were hiding in

the Darlington subdivision where
for the time being, 5,000 of the
missing 10,000 were resting peace-
fully in a yard. The remaining
5,000 were undiscovered until one of
the sleuths noticed that there was
an unusually large and recent
number of front door walks and
sidewalks in that community. Thus
were the rest discovered.
The whole affair was put into
the hands of~ the city attorney and
the mnalef actors commenced their
