FORD SAYS BRAIN INJURY MAY CAUSE CRIMINAL TENDENCY rj That a mechanical injury to the brain may be the cause of criminal tendencies was the opinion ex- pressed by Prof. Adelbert Ford of the psychology department, speak- ing in reference to the surgical operation on the brain of a young criminal, in an attempt to reform him. The operation was complet-J ed a few days ago, and the result) is not definitely known as yet, but Professor Ford said that it is per- fectly possible that the man may be "cured." "Moral defects, sometimes lead- ing to crime, may easily be caused by some mechanical defect in the brain-perhaps the pressure of the skull on the brain, or some growth in the head. If such happens to be the case, I can see no reason why the subject could not be cured by removing the defect. I do not know enough about this particular case to care to predict the out- come of the experiment, but its success is possible." Y n tI uertli i i 1 . E PRESENTS ALL THIS WEEK -S:..
