Two journalism conventions to
be held immediately after Christ-
mas in Ann Arbor will bring here
representatives of schools and de-
partments of journalism from all
parts of the United States, accord-
ing to Prof. J. L. Brumm, head of
the department of journalism.
The annual convention of the
Association of Schools and Depart-
ments of Journalism, of which
Professor Brumm is secretary and
treasurer, will meet on December
27. A committee of this associa-
tion has been working for several
years with a corresponding com-
mittee from the American Asso-
ciation of Newspaper Editors in an
attempt to formulate a program
of study for journalism calculated
to meet the requirements of the
university and college, as well as
those of the professional newspa-
perman. The report of these com-
mittees will be considered at the
convention. The association of
Schools and Departments of Jour-
nalism was organized in Ann Arbor
ten years ago. Professor Brunm
was the first president of the as-
sociation.
Another convention, that of the
American Association of Teachers
of Journalism will be held on De-
cember 28 and 29. The member-
ship of this association includes
members of the faculties of
schools and departments of jour-
nalism throughout the UnitedI
States, and the convention will
probablynbe attended by 150
teachers of courses in journalism.
The program will be made up of
papers and discussions dealing
with teaching problems and prac-
tices in journalism courses.
