:..THE M I CLI G AN D A I L Y THUDAY, NOVEMBER BAPTIST SCHOOL WILL' 1B OBJECTOFPROBE (I v Associated Press) BIRMINGHAM, Ala.. Nov. 21.- HoFwLard college, one of the largest Baptist schools of the south, was in an uproar today as a special committee appointed by the board of trustees reviewed charges pre- 2erred by 21 students of improper conduct on the campus. Among the charges was an alle- gation that a member of the fac- uity had asserted that "if all Bibles i the world were piled up and buancd the world would be better off within 100 years." The com- "-ainants alleged that Dr. John C. Dawson, president, had failed to Ive a sympathetic hearing when this and other complaints were riade to him. Three other charges being prob- ed are that students, during a re- cent fraternity rush, staged a mock compulsory wedding on the cam- pus, which was witnessed by a mix- ed group of students; that gam- bling and drinking had occurred on the campus, and that fraterni- ties had permitted dancing in their houses, contrary to school regula- tions. The complsining students testi- fled before the committee after being assured of immunity. The complaints were placed be- fcre the Alabama convention of the state Baptist association recently at Dothan, Ala., by students. The board of trustees was then direct- ed to appoint a special committee of investigation which resulted in the present probe. Final hearing by the committee has been set for Thursday. - Detroit Th eaters UNIVERSITY OF NEBRASKA: garb of a panther, cavorted up and Personal At the football game between Ne- down the side lines.
