Coach George Veenker advanc- jop
ed another step in the development'
of his Wolverine basketball squad
with the final cut of the season
and the removal of his men to
Yost Field House Monday nightl
after five weeks of preliminary
conditioning in the Waterman,
gymnasium..
From the twenty four men who
have survived the weeding out
processes and a few stars who are
at present seeing service on the
gridiron the teams which will carry
the hope, of Wolverine followers inj
Conference basketball. competition
will be drawn. Four of' last year's
letter winners and eight wearers
of the AMA are among those who
will be available for service.

Of the veterans, Capt. McCoy anda
Orwig, regulars on last year's var-
sity court combination .and Whit-
tle who saw "B" team service along
with Truskowski, a squad member
of two years ago, are engaged in
football activities. They will re-'
port to Coach Veenker shortly after
the close of the gridiron session on1
Nov. 24.
Among those who have run
through the preliminary paces
with the remainder of .the. cage as-
pirants are two letter, winners, Bob
Chapman, last year's varsity cen-
ter, and Danny Rose, guard, Bal-
3 samo and Barley, Clemons, Cush-t
: ing, Kanitz, Lovell, Myron and
Slagle, AMA winners.-
Others who have survived thel
early season parings are Adams,
Denblyer, Dolinsky, Dougall, Down-

Until the end of the football sea-

the Wolves- play host to Michigan
State.

ing minutes, 7-0. State won her
first game in 1913 by a 12-7 score
and turned the trick again two
years later, 24-0.
In 1924, Michigan :played at
Lansing in the dedicatory
game of the new Michigan
State stadium and managed to
chalk up a win only after
Freddy Parker has been called
from the bench in spite of a
badly injured leg to throw a
long pass to Captain Steager,
who romped across the goal
line with two minutes to play,
for the only score.
State scored on the Wolverines
for the first time in 9 years when
Paul. Smith drop-kicked a : per-
feet goal from the field in 1926, but
this failed to give much consola-
tion as the Spartans fell before a
barrage of Michigan touchdowns,
55-3.
The Green and White team
invaded the a new stadium last
year and was turned back, 21-0
in a rather drab contest in
which the Wolverine offense
dwindled after a scoring spurt
in the opening quarer.
Michigan teams iave won 19 of
the 23 contests played thus far,
State has annexed two, andhone has
resulted in a tie. The Wolverines
have scored 660 point= compared to
58, for. the,,Spartans..The, Maize
and Blue have been held scoreless
only twice, and State on 15 occa-
sions.
