Faunce added five through Mich- i Gembis and Squier practiced kicking goals from placement; Simrall, Totzke, Holmes and Wheeler went through a punt- ing drill with Straub, Rich and Whittle catching the kicks; while the rest of the squad limbered up by catching. Ten minutes later the Crimson- clad Hoosier players put in their appearance led by Capt. Chuck Bennett. # The Indiana outfit num- bered 30 men, and went through their limbering up drill simultan-, eously with their rivals. Although the sky was over- cast, the weather was nearly ideal for football, the tempera- ture having dropped a number of degrees overnight. After the completion of the pre- liminary drill the squads left the' field in favor of the rival bands, the entire Michigan outfit circling between the goalposts for 'luck' be- fore they disappeared into the pass- ageway that leads to the dressing room. The Hoosier's famous 100- piece marching band took the field, arrayed' in khaki uni- forms. with white cross stripes and red capes and brought forth a bigcheer from the Indiana rooters. They were followed shortly by the new Michigan band a few min- utes later and the two organiza- tions joined forces at the south end of the field before the flagpole and played the "Star Spangled Banner." Between halves Indiana's band gave one of the best ex- hibitions of formations ever seen in the new stadium. First the Hoosiers: formed a big "M I C H" in front of theaWol- verine stands and then crossed the field to spell "I N D I A N A" and later the letters "'I. U." Michigan's new drum major suc- ceeded in both of his attempts to I much to the satisfaction of the Maize and Blue rooters. An examination of the sta- tistics of the contest indicates that Captain Bennett was the big ground gainer for the vic- tors with a total of 151 yards to his credit, while Faunce made 67 and Reinhardt 47. Moss, substitute lineman, was forced to kick off twice after the Crimson scored their touchdown in the fourth period, his first effort (Continued from Page 6.) on the Bearcat 15 yard line. Walz later heaved a pass to Pegan on the goal line but it failed. The summary: Ann Arbor Battle Creek Davis' ......... LE ........ McAfee Conover .......LT......... Priest Ponto ......... LG.
