DONHUEWIL GOC'Cnson To Use New
Men Against Varsity
FRESHMAN RESTLERiS' (Continued from Page 6.)
of collegiate competition.7
In conjunction with the begin- In the crowded Crimson back-
ning gymnasium classes under the field such sophomore stars as Ross,
nin ,gmnaiumclsse uner hehalfback; Hughes, fullback; Bru-
supervision of Dr. May, Assistant baker, quarterback, and Ashby,
Coach Donahoe is starting work halfback, have seen service in both
with a large number of candidates A team contests. Ross and Ashby
for the freshman wrestling team are excellent open field runners
at Waterman this week. In the while Hughes place kicks and bucks
first day of practice over 75 men the line. Brubaker ran the A team
were given an hours' workout anda
drilled in a few standing holds and at quarterback all through the
th Sooner tilt last Saturday.
..
Recruits were mustered fromc
each gumnasium class at the start1
of every hour and given to Assist-
ant Coach Donahoe for instruction!
on fundamentals. This process will
be repeated in all of the classes
tomorrow and, in that way, it is
expected that about 150 freshmen
will be trying for a berth on the
Nquad next week.
All members of the squad will
be expected to work out at least
three times each week, preferably
at 3 o'clock. Assistant Coach Don-
ahoe urges every freshman who is
planning to try out for the wres-
tling team to begin practicing as
soon as possible. Very few of the
men have any experience and ev-
eryone will be on the same basis
at the beginning.
The weight of the line is great-]
ly increased by Hojnacki, former
Hamtramck, Mich., grid star; Ung-
er, of Mississippi; Swihart and
Jasper, both Indiana products.
Unger was picked .as the most out-
standing freshman on the entire
1927 yearling squad while the other
three are all sure of first team
berths against Michigan.
"I hold much respect for Mich-
igan," Coach Page said today, "in
view of the fact that it has been
the most outstanding Big Ten team
over a period of 20 years, and the
game Saturday will be one of the
toughest on our entire schedule."
Several collegiate moving - pic-
tures were taken at the University
of California this summer. Foot-
ball scenes were prominent.
