Pawlowski of the Engineering school stated in an interview lately. "The principle of the helicopter has been proved be- fore now," he continued, "but never before has it been practical. M. Bleecker, a graduate of the Upi- ble for the improvements that versity, has been largely responsi- have made the project a feasible one.' "Bleecker has worked since his graduation here at the Langley field in Virginia, w'here his work was so outstanding that the cur- tiss company selected him to de- sign the new plane," Professor Pawlowski added. He stated furth- er that, like other improvements, it was not yet fully proven, and that' no definite statement could be1 made as to its value. "The new plane, however, shows promise of rectifying the main fault of previ-k pus models, that of instability," SwasProfessor Pawlowski's opinion. 'Bleecker has introduced a device analogous to the aeleron to balancek the machine and give it a steadier' flight, The principle of putting . the motors on the wings is another of Bleecker 's innovations i the science of plane-building. "It is impossible to say absolute-' ly," Professor Pawlowski said in S.> ""closing, "but the indications for the success of the project are fav- orable."
