ILSTAR BUCKEYE CAGERS TO OPPOSE VARSITY
TWo 'meetStrong Biadger
In Second Tilt Of
.Return Series
Coach Lowr ey's varsity hockey
t ea m will engage Wisconsin's
puckstc rs tonight in the second of
the series of games scheduled for
Ann Arbor.' Michigan's prick chas-
chasers managed to break even
with the Badger skaters on their
northern trip in' the Cardinal
bailiwick by winning the first of
the series at Madison by a score
of 3-2 but were unsuccessful irr
their attempt to make a clean
sweep, dropping the second test
by a 3-0 count.
Fresh from a victory over the
highly touted Marquettet Univer-
sity outfit of -Minneapolis by a 1-0
scbre, the Cardinals will take the
ice tonight anxious to maintain
their fighting chance to shave
down the margin held by the fly-
igMinnesotans in the quest for
Western Conference puck laurels.
IThe Madison mentor will start
either Siegal or Peterson at right
wing, Krulgar at the other ex-
tremity of the forward line withi
Capt. Don Meikeljohn at the cen-
ter position. Gordon Meikeljohn
will draw the right defense assign-
ment with either Gallagher or Al-
berg at left defense. Frisch will
be seen. at the goalie position.
Michigan's pucksters will take
the ice tonight a rejuvenated team
due to their encouraging improve-I
went since the beginning of theI
semester when their reserve powerl
was so materially 'strengthened in j
the shape of the eligibility of Ma-
son, Shea, and Nygord.
With the opening' whistle Coach
Lowrey will send Maney a ni d
Schiander er to the forward )osts5,
Joseph 'to center ice, dart and
Bryant to the defense positions
and Grace to goalie.

FOX WILL MEET WIGGERS
Captain Lazar's illness causing
his confinement to !the hospital
and comning just on the' eve of the
fencing meet -between the Wolver-
ines and Ohio State at 7:30 o'clock
tonight in the auxiliary gym of the
new intramural .building, has
shaken the chances of the Michi-
gan team in this tilt.
Captain Lazar has .been the most.
consistent performer on. the squad
and has seldom f ailed .to win his
event. The problem of finding some
one to stake his place in the meet to-
night was answered when Coach,
Johnstone announced that Fried-
man, who has seen some service
this year in the early Meets, would
fence as the third man in the foils
matches.
Friedman is a sophomore whose
experience is confined mostly to
'his work on the freshman squad
last year and cannot be expected
to entirely compensate ,for the loss
of Captain Lazar.
Ohio. State's strongest man is
Fox who fences in the epee .event,
being runnerup in the Conference
meet last year. Wiggers, Michi-.
gan's all around fencer, was re-
sponsible .for his elimination in the
race last season.;
Besides Friedman in the foils
there will be the two regulars,
Stolpman and Shutt. Wiggers and
Dowsett will fence in their regular,
positions as epee mein. Wiggers
mxnay be called upon to see action
in the foils. if the tedam is not per-
forming very well. Uammer and
Cordon will enter the sabre event.

BREAST STROKE FEATURE

this season to their credit, Michi-
gan's undefeated swimmers wi1l

submnerge the Badgers. The Wol-
verine ;water polo team will also
play the thrice-defeated Wiscon-

Michigan's relay team composed
of Waller Walaitis, Seager, aid
Ault, is 'favored over the 'Badger
combination of Davis, Thomipsoni,,
and Lange . in the 160.. yard event.
The 200 yard breast stroke should
be the feature race *of the meet
with the two Wolverines, 'Thomp-
son and* Goldsmith,, i a t c h-e d
against. Meyer, the Badger star.
IMeyer has beaten Schroeder of 11-
'linois this year in. fast time.
Strong In Back Stroke
Walker and: Reif ;will be pitted
against Captain Lange and. Davis
of Wisconsin in the. 40 ya.rd sprint.
Wisconsin is weak in,- the 440 yard
swim, so Ault and Watson should
place one-two ahead of Fox. The
back stroke should .also, prove.a
slam for Michigan, with the .vet-
erans, Hubbell and Spindle,, paied
against Thompson andVonMalitz.
Maltitz.
The Badgers have shown their
greatest strength in fancy diving
Iwith Hattleberg and. Cuisinier, two
lettermen, entered. Coach Manni
will depend upon Walaitis and
'Grimshaw. Michigan's medley re-
lay of Hubbell, Goldsmith and Ault s
should beat -the; Wisconsin trio,
Von Maltitz, Meyer, and Tanka.
Lange and Davis, Wisconsin's en-
tries in the 100 yard free style,
have beaten Nickerson, Purdue's,
star printer. They will have to gor
at top speed, however, to win from
Walker and Seager.
The Wolverine water polo team
will line up with. Walaitis, Mertz,
and Ault, as forwards; Spindle,
Hubbell, and Watson, as backs;
and Warner, goal tender. The Wis-
