PMITWILL LECTURE HERE
Josc Vasconcelos, former sinister
of education and prominent figure in
Mexican political and educational cir-
cles, will lecture on "Mexico and the
United States," Monday at 4:15 o'clock
in the Natural Science auditorium. Mr.
Vasconcelos was -the founder of the
educational system in Mexico which
was the product of the recent revolu-
ion there, and which has made con-
giderable inroads in the illiteracy
formerly so prevalent in that country.
Until recently, Mr. Vasconcelos had
been a staunch follower of the present
regime in Mexico, but he is now known
to be distinctly opposed to the gov-
ernncittal policies of Calles and Obre-
gon. Last year, just before going to
Europe, he publicly denounced their
regime and announced his own efidi-
dacy for the presidential chair in the
coming national elections. Ie is re-
ptr(Ied as one of the foremost educa-
tional and political leaders of the day
4 by the younger intellectual group of,
Latin Americans.
At the present time, Mr. Vasconce-
los is lteaching Mexican history and
civilization at the University of Chi-
cago. He is also the author of a num-
ber of books and essays on Mexico
and her manifold problems.

GREEK LETTER FRATERNITY

Japanese students here have organiz-
ed* a greek letter fraternity on the
campus. Psi Lambda Phi, as it is
called, is believed to be the first one
of its kind in the United States. One
of its aims is to promote a better un-
derstanding between American and
Japanese students.
