The list this year is larger thin the 1927 list when only thirty- six were granted the award. The yearling squad has made ry very creditable showing this spring, Three telegraphic meets with Ohio State, Minnesota and Illinois were held with the Wolverine first year men romping home with a victory in each one. Much potential vorsity material is contained within the ranks of the freshmen, according to Mr. Hoyt, with most of the prospects listed in the dashes and longer runs. Tolan, an interscholastic champion, Murray and Smith have all shown up well in the 100-yard dash. Tolan has also run in the 220-yard lash and has done equally well there. In the longer sprints, Cook has made good time'~in the 440-yard run with Benson, Muel- ler and Bazley turning in good work in the half mile. Bazley has also been dunning the mile. Theprospects in the weight events are not so encouraging. A lack of pole vaulters, discus men, shot putters and javelin tossers has handicapped the yearling team in all the meets. Mar- shall, to shot putter, is the best of the first year men in this department. The names of the numeral winners are as follows: Austin, Andreae, Bak- er, Barron, Bazley, Benson, Brubaker, Brooks, Cody, Colby, Cook, Cooper, Dougal, D'Anna, Dougherty, Decker, Eastwood, Feustal, Flood, Feldman, Groehn, Gingrich, Hulsman, Huggett, Hayes, Harrell, Holton, Lounsberry, Metz, Mueller, Morton, Marshall, Mur- ray, Pottle, Potter, Russell, 7olaI, Turner, Simith, Smyth, and Veech.
