The mid-semester reports on engineering and architectural students in

office not later than Friday, March 30.

Offenders To Answer Charges Before
Gray Fawn Orchestra On
Night Of March 30:
HELD IN LAWYERS' CLUB
Crease court warrants have been is-
sued demanding the presence of cer-
tain male and female characters be-
fare that body in the Lawyer's club
where these characters will appear
before the Gray Fawn orchestra of
Cleveland in - the lounge by order of
the court.
Warrants of regular standard form
have been made out by the "State of
Somnolence" for the Crease court as
part of the features of the traditional
Crease (lance to be given by the senior
Law c'ass on Friday night, March 30.
The warrant is issued through a
special deputized sheriffess of a myth-
ical "County Debates" and says in
part "Whereas, the Senior Law class
have this day made complaint in writ-
ing and on oath to the Crease court
that, heretofore, to wit, on the tenth
day of Hilary term, it was averred and
braggadociously affirmed in an intol-
erant manner that the aforesaid averr-
er and afIirmant declared that he
could dance, and that they, the afor-
mentioned Senior Law class have just
cause to suspect that said defendant
did make the previously mentioned
averrment and affirmation.
"Therefore in the name of the peo-
ple of the State of Somnolence you
are hereby commanded forthwith, to
arrest the said defendant and bring
his body before thesCray Fawn or-
chestra and the Crease court at their
March session in the Lawyer's club'
of the Usniversity of Michigan, where
he will be given a fair trial on the
veracity of the above averrment. And
fail not, 'at your peril, to make due
service and return hereof, as the law
directs."

Prof. R. H. Curtiss, director of the
University observatory, testified re-
cently to the remarkable accuracy of
modern instrument makers from the
experience which he has had in the
erection of the observing station of the
University in Bloemfontein, South
Africa.
According to Professor Curtiss, in
erecting the telescope at this station
it was necessary to have a, certain
wheel in the mechanism of the re-
fracting telescope made after the tele-
scope itself had been set ip.
This wheel was ordered -after the

Lamont tele'scope had arrived in
Africa and had been erected. It is a
large wheel about 4 1-2 feet in diam-
eter on the main axis of the telescope.
The central hole in the wheel was
ordered to be of a certain dimnsion,
9.3011 inches in diameter. The shaft
was measured in Africa and the ica-
sarement was sen to a firm in the
United States who had contracted to
make the wheel.
When this wheel arrived, at the ob-
servatory in South Africa and was
put on the axis about a month ago it
fitted perfectly, according to Profes-,
sor Curtiss.

Thursday, :March 22 at 8 p.m., in the Chemistry Amphitheater, Mr. C. V.
Balke, Chemical Director of the Fansteel Products Conpaiy, will talk on
"Metallic Tantalum." This is a timely topic, in view of the growing use of
Tantalum in place of platinum.
This lecture is under' the auspices of the local Section of the American
Chemical Society. All interested are invited.
