Further, Sharkey is an overwhelm- ing choice to win over Heeney. Al- though the latter is highly regarded in his native New Zealand he has' failed to create any great impression in the United States. Even Promo- ter Tex Rickard favors Sharkey, and it should be evident that he might profit much from the "ballyhoo" which an international heavyweight fight would arouse. Sharkey Is Strangely Silent But the attitude of the !Boston fighter, who boasted before the fight, what he would do to Dempsey, is the most surprising part of the whole situation. He has not raised his voice once and such is his reticence that the only prediction he has made was a quiet "I think I will win." About the only question that uni- versally raised by those who fear for Sharkey in his condition, which has been so well veiled for some reason or other. To all outward appearances he is in perfect shape, but there are two other considerations which en- ter. Since the terrific pummeling in the stomach which he received from Dempsey, many hold that this part of Sharkey's anatomy will be ex tremely vulnerable tonight. Defeat tonight may be the penalty for his standing toe to toe with the Manassa Mauler.. Hands Declared Good The other doubtful part of Shark- ey's body is his left hand, a bone of which was fractured several months ago, but his handlers declare this is in perfect shape again. r And while the public is so wrought up about Sharkey's condition, they 1 are forgetting one half of the show, the determined pugilist from the A- tipodes. Heeney has hopes of upsetting Sharkey's well laid plans as Tunney did Dempsey's at Philadelphia.
