Correcting the map of southiwestern
Greenland with reference to the3 area
covered by the great ice-cap will be
the work of Ralph L. Beikxnap and(
his assistant Duncan Stewart, )oth of'
the geology department, this summer,
according' to a recent announcement
of their plans. The best existing maps
are entirely inaccurate, Belknap ex-
plained, having b~een 1Acti ed onlyv1from
the reports of natives who had visited
the regions in question.

project is governed b~y the 'sailing

tober.
The mapping part y, which will con-
.sist of Belknap, Stewart, and possibly
several Eskimos wil have to carry
all their supplies on their backs, beC-
cause summer transportation fa'il
ities in inlanid Greenland are non-ex-
istent. In the course of the 250-mile
hike along the ice-edge several re-
turn trips will have to be mIadle to Mt.
Evans for food, as there is very slight
possibility of being able to shoot any
game. Caribou are reported very
scarce in the area to be covered.
Belknap and Stewart are sailing
from New York, May 19) along withi
Professor Hobbs, a nmeterologist from
Clark university named Schneider, and
a radio operator to replace Oscanyan,
who has not yet been chosen.
