One more complete round of debates are scheduled for members of the Mich- igan-High School' Debating eague be- fore 64 hgh school debate teams are selected to partipate in the elimina- tion series of contests to determine the state champion. -The enrollment in the debating league, which is sponsored by the Ufni-{ versity Extension department and managed by Prof. Gail E. Densmor of the speech department, is the larg- est in the history of the league, in- luding among its members more than 260 high schools this year. The question which is being con- sidered this year is, Resolved: that the direct primary should be abolished.' According to a report issued by Pro- fessor Densmore may more affirma- tive decisions have been turned in than negative. This would -indicate that the opponents of the direct pri- mary are stronger than its advocates, and that it is not very popular. The state championship debate is scheduled to take place on Friday, April 17, before the meeting of the Michigan Schoolmasters' association. Heretofore this contest has not been held until the middle of May, but due to the invitation of this association it has moved forward a month.
