LAKEH-URST, N. J,., March - 3
After battling strontg winds and1 a'
blinding snowstorm, over her homel
field all night, the dirigible Los An-!
geles was towedl safely inLto her han-
gar at 7 o'clock this morning, com-j
pleting a 4,000 mile round trip) flightl
to Panama, Canal Zone.-
Four sailors were carried into the
air clinging to the handrails of the
giant ship when the snowstorm{
swept across the field, forcing a suzd-
den 'ascent after an attempted land-
ing, but were pulled to safety in-
side the cabin. Another member of'
the ground crew who hung on until
the dirigible was 20 feet off the
ground was only slightly injured in
the fall.I
The big airship quickly disappear-
ed in the storm and fear that she
might meet the same fate as the Shen-
andoah was expressed by members
of the ground crew, which had al-
most succeeded in walking her into
the hangar when the storm swept
down. Forty three men were aboard
her, the largest crew she had car-
ried since her flight to this country
from Germany.
Shortly before 6:30, however, when e s o a e sd a d t e w n
had died down, her silvery hulk ap-'
peared against the brightening east-i
ern horizon andl half an hour later
she had, nosed down to the field and
been stowed safely away in her hean-
gar.
Commander C. E. Rosendahl first
brought thW Los 'Angeles over herj
hom'e field at 11:40 Friday night aft-
ea 37 hour flight from Cuacanayabo
bay, Cuba, where she had stopped on
her return trip from Panama.
