Fears that the ancient Michigan-
Chicago flame of rivalry, which has
sputtered only occasionally since the
withdrawal of the Wolverines from
the Conference bonfire in 1905, would
be allowed to fade again were dis-
pelled yesterday by the announcement:
of Director Fielding H. Yost that a
five-year series, to commence in 1,930,
had been agree'd upon with the Maroon
authorities.
In negotiating for the intersectional
encounter with Harvard, another I
ancient feud opponent, l\ichigan was
forced to abandon the contest with
Chicago, already tentatively scheduled
for 1929, so that a place could be
found for the Eastern eleven.
Stagg Readily Accepts Plan
However, Dr. Amos Alonzo Stagg,;
athletic director at the \idway, real-
izing that the coveted Harvard con-
test in no way reflected upon the de-
sire on the part of the Michigan athle-
tic board to place Chicago on the Wol-
verine program, readily assnted to
the extended home-and-hone proposa?.
*With the acceptance of the Chicago
contest the Wolverine schedule for
1930 is practically complete, only the
definite confirmation of the tradition-
al. Michigan State battle being forth-
coming.
Michigan is now carded to meet six

"Back Bay aristocrats" of Cambridge
and M. S. C.
Minnesota, Illinois, Purdue, and Chi-
cago are to journey to Ann Arbor,
while the Maize and Blue squad will
invade Ohio, Iowa, and Harvard.

Michigan-Chicago hostilities in the
past are quite entirely forgotten in
favor of one paramount episode when-;
ever any "old grad" recalls the clas-
sic of 1905. The Maroons of that year,
hopeless underdogs in the advance,
