Notice in re Purchase of Annuities:
The attention of all members of the Faculty who by the term of their ap-
pointment are obligated to purchase old age annuities or who have the priv-
ilege of purchasing such annuities, is respectfully called to the fact that the!
annuity rates of the Teachers Insurance and Annuity Association will be
somewhat increased beginning January 1, 1928. There will be an appreciable
saving to all who perfect their arrangements for taking annuities before the
end of the present calendar year.

Action of the University Discipline Commiittee:
Messrs. Howard Kresge, 29E, and James Lewis, '30, have been placed on
probation for the remainder of the academic year for having in violation of
law undertaken to introduce liquor from Canada into the United States. It
was shown upon the hearing-that said liquor was not intended to be brought
to Ann Arbor.

General Committee on the University College:
The third meeting of the General Committee on the University College will
be held in room D, Alumni Memorial Hall, at 4:15 p.m., on Wednesday, No-
vember 30, 1927.
The tentative report of the sub-committee on Faculty will be discussed.

Faculty, College of Literature, Science, and the Arts:
Midsemester report cards are now being distributed through the Dean's
messenger service. Instructors are requested to report not later than No-
vember 30 the names of all students whose standing is at this time D or E.
These grades should not indicate merely the mfark received on the mid-
semester examination, if such an examination is given. More cards, if needed,
can be had at my office.
These cards should be used only for reports of the work of students en-

School of Education:
A regular faculty, meeting of the School of Education will be held Monday,
December 5, at 4:15 p.m., in room 109, Tappan Hall. The "Special Order"
relating to Research and Field Service will come up. for consideration.

There will be a meeting of the Administrative Board Wednesday, No-
vember 30, at 4:10 in my office.. Cases of discipline are to be considered and
student members are expected to attend.

Bureau of Appointments-C, D, E, and F:
All candidates enrolled with the Bureau of Appointments whose names
begin with C, D, E, or F, are requested to call at the office, room 102 Tappan
Hall, for interviews this week. Office hours for this purpose will be held from
9 to 12 a.m., and 2 to 4 p.m., November 29, 30 and December 1, and 2.

Open Night, Astronomical Laboratory:
Visitors will be admitted to the Astronomical Laboratory on Angell Hall
on Friday, December 2, from 8 to 10 p.m', to observe Jupiter and the Moon
with the new 10-inch telescope. Those desiring admission next Friday night
should call the Observatory secretary any day between 11 a.m., and noon and
give names.

"Mid-semester reports for all students in the College of Engineering
whose grades in any courses have been reportd below C, are now on file and
open to inspection by those concerned, in the office of the assistant dean,

French Lecture:
The opening lecture of the Cercle Francais program will be given Wed-
nesday, November 30, at 4:15 o'clock in Natural Science Auditorium. Auguste
Declos of the Office National des Universities et Ecoles Francaises will give
an illustrated lecture on "Claude Monet."
Tickets for the whole series may be procured from the Secretary of the
Romance Language Department, room 104, South Wing. Rene Talamon.
Senior Education Class Representatives:
There will be a meeting of all representatives of the Senior Education
class on Wednesday, November 30, in room 109 Tappan Hall at 7:30. All
members please be present.

Forestry Club Meeting:
At the Forestry Club meetinf tonight Major Even W. Kelly, Chief Forest-
er o District Seven, will tell about forestry in his district and also recount
his experiences in the Forestry Regiment in the late World War.
McCain, '29F., will give an account of his summer's experience with the
Forest Service in Oregon.

A three-reel film "The Making of a Great Newspaper", picturing, step by
step, the publication of the New York Times, will be shown at 4:15 p. in.,
Thursday, December 1, in the Natural Science Auditorium. The public is cor-
