ADDRESSES UP ON LEWIS BOOK church is that for the past twenty-five years the church has consistently lost ground. He scored some Metropolitan preachers of the day, citing them as examples of the decline of the church. "There has come a time,", said the speaker, "when it is necessary to make a sharp distinction between the religion of Jesus and the religion of Christianity. But because of this there is no need to organize a new group, a new church, for the way to aid is to attempt to inflict some Chris- tianity in the real sense of the word into the Chrisian religion as it stands today. Stay in your church until you get thrown out." According to Dr. Thomsen the whole situation is summed up in the following lines from the book of Prof. C. H. Cooley, "Those that are satisfied with the church of today are those who have Snot enough imagination to be Chris- tians."
