MICHIGAN DAILY PAGE SEVEN WEDEDA.MA 5 12 TEMCHGN AL I :f COACH HOYT AWARD Thirty-six Yearling Trackmen Receive fisignia For Work Durlig Indoor And Outdoor Seasons I' MANY QUARTERMILERS Thirty-six members of the freshman track squad were awarded numerals last night by Coach Charles Hoyt af- ter the final official work for the yearl- figs. A picture of the entire team was taken yesterday afternoon. Capt. Richard Chapman, broad jump and sprint star, heads the list and is considered a likely Varsity prospect. Ile has run the 100 yard dash in :10.3 and has made 22 feet 5 inches in thej broad jump this year. Stuck has stepped the century in :10.4. Wid- man was given his award for work in the javelin, and is capable of 160 feet or better and showing improve-. ment. Crego is another javelin man who may develop. Among the middle and long dis- tance runners, Hayden is the mostI outstanding. He has run the 880 in 2:01.5 and made the mile in 4:30 in- dloors. He also ran the two mile in 10:03 indoors. Herbert, who won the l freshmancross country race, is an- other good distance man. He has run the half in 2:03. Quarter milers are most abund- ant on the scuad with Dale and Dal- toig Seymour and Reed the best of the crop. All have made under :52 and are good prospects. Reed is also a good low hurdler. Harbaugh is an- other low hurdle prospect while Dol- liver is a fair hurdler. Robert Evans has "the makins" of I a good high jumper, according to Coach Hoyt, while Brooks is probably the best weight prospect. The complete list of numeral win- ners follows: Chapman, dash and broad jump; Stuck, sprinter; Atkins, Dolliver, E. Evans, and Harbaugh, hurdlers; Reed, 440 and hurdles; Far- ley, Stevens, Dale and Dalton Sey- mour, 440; Herbert and Hayden, half mile to two mile; Grunow, mile; Jes- son, Kennedy, Nunely, and J. F. Smith, two mile; Richardson, half mile; Danner and Odle, broad jump; Han- ley, Oldham and H. Smith, pole vault; R. Evans and Felker, high jump; Feldman, Lloyd, Simonian and Ulrich, hammer; Crego and Widman, jave- lin;- Hurlburt, Brooks, Raber and Reiwitch, discus and shot.
