Alpha Kappa Psi is the oldest of professi onal business administration fraternities The members are select- ed on a asis of professional intent, scholarship, and general activities. The organization has developed until it now has 48 collgiate haters and nine alumni chapters. Twenty-three _ students have been selected to form the nucleus of the new fraternity Dean Everett W. Lord, of the school of business administration at Blostony university, who is a nationally known figure in his field, will be here in his capacity of~ national president, to install the group. Several other niational officers are expected to be, present for..the? ceremonies, includ- ing Dwight P. Bedell, national secre-' tary-treasurer and John C Marshall, grand rituali t Both of +these men have attained fame in the business world. The installation team will eI composed of men from chapters at' 'Northwestern, Ohio /State, and Pitts- burgh universities, who will be assist- ed by members fromn other chapters who are in residence here. Dean Edmund E. Day of the School of Bus- ness Administration will make an address, welcomning the new fra ern- Ity to the campus of the University of Michigan. A. W Foscue, of the economics de- partment, who has been a member of the Texas university chapter of Phi Kappa Psi together with Robert M. Kerr of the Oregon State chapter will be the sp41isors of the chapter here. SIX TO COMPETE FOR ORATORICAL HONORS TONIGHT "Christ's Ideals for the Modern World" is the general topic for the "itkinson Oratorical contest to be held at 7:30 today in Lane hal. Professor _,rR. T. D. Hollister of the public speak- ing deartment will be the presiding officer. The contest was established by Mr. . C. Atinson of~ Battle Creek in honor of his -soni, and is under the personal direction of, Mr. Lewis C. Ileimann. :01he contestants are: Janl Andeer, '29, who will speak on "The Ideal of Faith"; Charles Austin, '28, whose topic is "The Prison-An Enemy of Jus-' Lice"; Patricia Hodgson, '27Ed, who will speak on ""A Modern Christian"; Elizabeth Lucas, '28 whose topic is "The Rediscovery. of Jesus' Teach- ings"; Madhusudan Mozumdar, '28E, who will snieak on''Universal Brother- hood"; and Roland Skeel, '27, who wilj speak on "Ideals of Worth." The jiudges for the contest are: Prof. J. B. dmonson, of the School of Education, Prof. William A. Prayer, of the history department, Thomas M. JIen, director of the Ann Arbor Bible chair, Rev. Justice Masoni is alleged to have 1 attacked Christey Russell, an attor- ney, after Russell had stated before the special court that Justice Mason was not the author of an opinion to which his signature was attached. RESEARCH PLANS SHOWN OFFICIALS *At the invitation of Prof. A.E. White, director of the department of IEngineering Research, secretaries of the various members of commerce throughout they State were invited guess of the University, this past week. The object of the meeting was to show the visitors various projects in industrial research that the depart- zident is directing for industrial con- cerns. The guests were taken on al tour of inspection through the enigin- eering and \.physics laboratories, and were given some idea of the present wrk being done by the University. After the inspection they were ten- dered a dinner at the Uniion at which Professor White stressed the idea tliat every progressive industry should have its research department. This special page will be devoted to the records and accomplishments of individual graduates of the University. In each issue will appear short sketches and portraits of three or four alumni .who have made a definite rec- ord in some activity. The title should indicate that those appearing on the page have' accom- plished something for the University and the world, and that they are Michigan men or women.
