No set rule for competition was Wade, and several of the events were limited to Varsity men alone, some to the yearlings, still others mixed, fand one event for the former Mich- igan quarter mile stars, now known as "has-eens." All those men who were not select- ed to go to the Pennsylvania relays took part in the meet which was to determine the personnel of the squadl that is to face lowa in a dual meet next week. The seleeiors still re- main uncertain, pending the decisions of Coach Farell. 4 strong wind directly against the runners in almost every event playdl an important part in slowing up the races. With one exception, the ime turned i by Feinsinger in the 440 yrd special race, of :505, no mark was exceptional. If the distinction for "stars" must lie given to sofeone, Harold Lassr,I Varsity trackman, (draws first honors ~r two first places, while Chapman, freshman captain, also scored two firsts. Lasser won the 10) yard dash in :103, and the 220 in ;22.. Chap- man won the centry in :10.6, and the broad jump with a leap of 22 feet 3 5-8 inches. In the 100 yard dash Wi. IHarbaugh finished about three yars behind Lasser, wth L. Kelly a close third. I-arbaugi\ was again the closest manc in the: 220, pressipg Lasser most oft the way, and finally finishing second. Towel was third in this race. Stuck, freshman, who finished just' behind Chapman in the 10, won a. frst place in the 220 by defeatingc A) Seymour, andl ichel, who finished aecond and third respectively. The high hurdle race was won byt Finney, Varsity, with Mans second, and Atkins third. The time of :16.2 was fair, consiering the wind. Thet low hurdle race was a walkaway, Jones winning over Dolliver and J.l 1larbaugh by more than 10 yards. Olheiser, Mueller and Leonard I stepped away from the rest of the field and staged a close race in the 440. Ohlheiser stayed in second place until hie rounded the last turn where lie went into first. Mueller also cme to the fore and threatened to win in the sprint but fell short by a short distance. Leonard was a poor third. Feinsinger was out in front almost from thre start in the special race with; Rlobb, intercollegiate sprint campon, and Ijerrnstein, former star, close behind. Herrnste~n pulled into second place in the final (ash, with Robb third, and Stevens a freshman, fourth. The time was :50.5. The two mile irace was very close. Out of a field of 11 that startel h race,FWuerful, a sophomore, and Cal- l'aban, former Varsity distance man, were the only two left to finish. W er- 'ful stayed behind until the sprint, where he defeated Callahan by inches Onl, in th time of 9 :57.7. Lomont had little trouble in taking the half mile run, wining 1w 10 yards from Beals and Hunt, both Var- ity men. The time was 2:01.1, and would have been much faster h fd the com petition pushed I ~smot (I'' g tfhe fist quarter .mile. Herbert ad lCunow finished first and second 4n the freshman 8'5O yard run. The time of 20.2 is aonidered slow for the dh aee. The sowhu!s:il the fiid eve s were oly _far. Chamn's jmp of 22 feet 2 5-8 niches w~on the broad jump, witx Arnd second1 si inches behind, and Kelly third, n foo behind Chapman. Morton's heav e of 0 feet 3 5-8 inches was good enough to take first place in the shot twt, almost 1 1-2 feet ahead of Brooks, his competitor, aind two feet ah-ead of Reiwitch, who placed third. Caim bell was the best bet in the hammer throw, with a heave of 147 feet 7 3-8 inches, more than 13 feet aha of McCaffree, second place; rran, Williams was third.
