lost to Pittsburgh 9-5 in yesterday':,
game, while the Gianits went into a
tie for first plac,.e with the Pirates
by beating Brooklyn 7-2. In the other
Nrational league contest Cincinnati de-
feated 'the Chicago Cubs 8-5.
In the American league St. Louis
lost a chance to g o into a tie for first
place when it howe4 to Cleveland by
a score of 6-2. The Athletics staged a
fine comeback tq overtake Boston's
six run lead and wein out 9-8.(l-
cago had a big ca with the lbat and
defeated the Detroit Tigers 9-3. In all
the White Sox gathered 14 hits.
