Rewarding Activities


EVANSTON, Ill., April 1-Women
students at Northwestern have chos-"
en the week of May 17-21 in which to
hold their Vnnuhl Women's, Week.
Activities will be ,started with the
Matrix banquet on Tuesday evening,
May 17, which is given under the aus-
pices.. of Theta Sigma Phi, journal-
istic sorority. This banquet is given
primarily to;- honor girls who have
been most active on campus. It is
-not, moreover, simply for journal-
ists, but for women in all fields of
work. It is expected that there will
be about 300 invitations issued this
year.
.Other events of the week will in-
clude- a May Day (celebration on
Thursday, May 19, when the May
queen is crowned and the pageant is
presented. This annual festival is
sponsored by the Women's Self-Gov-
erning association and is given in
honor to the seniors. Following the
pageant is the awarding of the W. A.
A. emblem to the three most repre-
sentative seniors and also the an-
nouncement of Mortarboard.
After a beach supper is the instal-.
lation of W. S. G. A. officers, and a
sing is held for t~re members of the
four Lantern organizations. Presenta-
tion of the semioi 'a' ntern to the fresh-
men is made and the celebration is
closed with the sorority sing.
