Walter Johnson Washington's veteran pitcher, Walt- er Johnson, is at home at the present time nursing a leg injury received in an early season workout at the Na- tional's training camp several weeks ago. It may be some time before the (lean of the Wshington pitching corps can take his regular turn in the box again. RESURFACE CLAY TENNIS COURTS AT FERRY FIELD Clay was hauled Tuesday and Wed- nesday from the new stadium to thej tennis courts on Ferry field by a fleet of trucks, and the work of re- surfacing the courts was begun. AI large pocket of pure blue clay wasl found in excavating for the stadium and it has been decided to use this to put the courts in condition. The courts have for several years been in need of resurfacing, accord-1 ing to Coach H. C. Hutchins and this move is welcomed by all concerned. The surface of the courts at present is composed largely of a sandy soil which makes them dusty in dry weath- er, but with the added clay for body, they should be much improved this year. It is also expected, that enough clay will be available after the resurfca-I ing process to construct several new tennis courts which will probably bej located directly south of the present courts.I Second Place squPal Lo'.t To Coach Ilatt )Iann WOLVERINES CONFIDENTX Coach Matt ?dann and his W% ):srine" swimumilers Ifavored to submerge all: 4 P Iosit ion in the Conference tank r mot :hedu'fd for tomorrow and :..
