"Eight 'til Eight" has been '_elected
as the title of the 23rd annual Junior
qxirls' play which will be presented ac-
cording to the custom of the junior
class from March 14 to 18 inclusive,
,at the Whitney theater. The selection
of a name for this year's producitiou
has been considerably delayed due to
the indecision of the central commit-
tee, , who hestitate l for some time be-
tween two suitable possibilities. The
hook of the play is the work of Esther
Merrick, '28, of Saginaw, being chos-
en by the central committee of thej
class from a number submitted to Bet-
ty Nutt, general chairman.
Tho play, in accordance with prece-
dent set by past productions is of the
type that is expected to appeal to stu-
<dent audiences. Every type of college
student from the sweet and demure to
the exceedingly efficient will be por-
trayed.
The production will include 135
members, with 12 cast parts, six male
land six female. The roles , are all
straight leads with no definite char-
acter parts. Especial emphasis will be
placed on the feminine roles according
to Phyllis Loughton, '28, director of'
the play.
Rehearsals have been going on for
the past week under the direction of
Marion Van Tuyl, chairman of the dance
committee, ,and will continue through-
ou' the period of final examinations.
Miss Loughton has expressed her com-
plete satisfaction with the progress
that rehearsals have made. The work
of other committees is making rapid
progress according to the chairmen.
This year's play is considered super-
ior in every way. No revision at, all
has been deemed necessary, by Donald
Hamilton Haines, who has revised
Michigan Operas and Junior Girls'
plays for several years. In his opin-
ion, Miss Merrick's book is one of the
best of its type ever written.
An innovation in this year's produc-
tion is the fact that it is being directed.

ly decided that the only chance for so-
cial life of the young men and young
women were the church and dance
hall. Doth of these are felt to be un-
satisfactory, the church being too
limited and denominational, and the
dance hall too risky.
The Y. W. C. A. is therefore co-
operating with the Y. M. C. A. in con-
ducting a survey in the eastern part,
of the country, its objective being
something new in the annals of both. .
It is the erection of a joint Y. M.-Y.W.
building. Wholesome recreation for
boys and girls together will be one of
its major activities.
"New relationships between men
and women have been created both
within and without the home during
the last few years," says Miss Corbett
in explaining the proposed experi-(
ment. "These changes involve per-
plexities for boys and girls and young
men and women that did not exist
before. Both sexes, we find, want to

The 1927 tour is the third which has
been sponsored by the council and
in the first tour the University ofj
Michigan was represented by one
graduate student. Since that time,
no one from here has gone and those;
effect that, in as much as the original
work of such an organization has been
partially absorbed by the various
church guilds and the Woman's
league, and inasmuch as the work ofI
World fellowship, which has been
handled by the Y. W. C. A. could be
controlled under another organiza-
tion, the practical thing for the group
to d9 is to disband.
The meeting this afternoon is open
to all women on campus and it is
hoped that a large number will turn
out. Only those who have been mem-
bers of the Y. IV: C. A. since Decem-
ber, 1926, wil be allowed to vote on
the subject, however.
