PA CF TWO THE MICHIGAN DAILY FRIDAY, JANUA-RY 7, 1927 EXHIBITED[AT LIBRARY1 Arraitgmei Of PhIotographs% In Order Gives Chronological Record Of Hobbs' Excursion. SHOWS LIFE OF ESKIMOS In conjunction with his supplemen- tary work on the results of the first Greenland expedition of the University of Michigan, Prof. W. IH. Hobbs, of the geology department has arranged a' collection of approximately 200 photographs which have been placed Dil display in the lobby cases in the main corridor of the library. By arranging the photographs in the chronological order of the trip; Professor Hobbs htas organized a de-: tailed pictorial record of the exploits of the party at various points of the expedition from the day the group sailed from the harbor of North Syd- ,iey on the Morrissey until the depar- ture from the tiny settlement of Hol- stenborg. Members of both the University and Putnam expeditions are shown in snapshots taken aboard the Morrissey. A first-hand study of the living con-3 ditions of the Greenland Eskimo is afforded in the photographs showing the Hlolstenborg natives in their hand- made clothing, and the geographical nnature of the barren land in which they live. The panoramic views of the glaciers and glaciated areas are considered re- maarkable for their clearness in show- ing the. detail of cirques, fjords, lakeI terraces, and other glacial features, while the views of the Otto Nordensk- fold glacier present further pictorial evidence of dual glaciation. The expedition also includes views' of the party and the areas covered in' its 100-mile trip inland to the ice fields where Camp Cooley was estab- lished for further work next summer.
