Smith, registrar of the Uni- versity, is the author of an article in the current number of "The North Central Association Quarterly" which describes the action the North Centralf Association of Colleges and Secondary Schools has taken in regard to Junior high schools. The Quarterly, which is the official publication of the North Central as-I sociation contains, in addition to all the proceeding of the annual meeting, materl related to the work of the association. One of the features in the last issue of the publication is a detailed discussion of the measure- ment and equalization of the teaching load} among high school teachers. Prof. C. 0. Davis of the School of Education, who is managing editor of the Quarterly, has contributed sevr eral articles to the current issue, in- cluding a history of the organization of the North Central association which is traced from an organization known in 1895 as the Michigan Schoolmaster'sJ club.
