For the first time in the history of the "of- + ficial" choices, thei "Big Three" schools failed to place a man. Of the six Middle West men chosen. five were from the Western Confer- ence, Michigan placing two, while Minnesota, Illinois and Northwestern each had one man selected. A Notre Dame player was honored in the choice, as well as one man from Southern California. Stanford, one of the leading teams for national championship considera- tion, failed to have a man chosen for the first eleven. Friedman and Oosterbaan, Wolver- ie stars, were the only players on the team to be chosen for the second consecutive years. The selections follow: Hanson, Syracuse, left end; Wickhorst, Navy, left tackle; Connougliton, Georgetown,' left guard; Boeringer, Notre Dame, center; Shively, Illinois, right guard; Smith, Brown, right tackle; Goster.- baan, Michigan, right end; Friedman, Michigan, quarterback; Baker, North- western, left halfback; Kaer, Southern California, right halfback; Joesting, Minnesota, fullback.
