Greenmian Beck From Three Week Trlp, Stu4les- Origin Of Pottery Found1( Last Summer VISITS INDIAN EXPERT Emerson F. Greenm-an, assistant in the museum of anthropology of the U~niversity, returned to Ann Arbor Thursday night from a three weeks trip in the East, during which time he visited many museums and au- thorities on pottery of the Iroquois Indians. The trip was for the purpose! of ascertaining the exact origin of the pottery which Mr. Greenman procured in his excavation work in Missaukee, Ogemaw and Macomb this summer. Mr. Greenman visited the Peabody museum of Harvard university and in- spectedl some materials which were f excavated from this state a half cen- tury ago. The materials that were there, according to Mr. Greenman, in- dicate the presence. of the Mound .1 builders of Ohio in Michigan during prehistoric times. Th'e pottery which Mr. Greenman carried to the East for examination by A. C. Parker, Rochester,;,N. Y., was declared by Mr. Parker to show marked Ir~oquois influence. It is re- gardled as a further substantiation of the theory that the Iroquois migrated up the Mississippi valley and through Michigan and lower Canada before settling in New York.
