THE MICHIGAN DAILY FRIDAY, OCTOBER 15, 1926 THE MICHIGAN DAILY FRIDAY, OCTOBER 15, 1926 U European Attitude F Bitter To U. S.--Wise In a recent interview, Rabbi Ste- phen A. Wise, who has just returnedt from abroad, stated that Europe's at- Z titude toward the U. S. is now ex- tremely bitter. Such circumstances would compel uts to take part in the shaping the destinies of nations. Be-1 cause of, this, there is growing in Europe a league of deepening resent-; ment against the people of America.1 The present urge in the United REC TORS DEFEND FACULTY BOARD (By Associated Press) ST. PAUL, Minn., Oct. 13.-The rec- tors and alumni of Carleton college, North~field, Minnesota, defended the school against the charges that its1 teachings were "anti-Christian." 1 The charges, made by Dr. W. E. Riley, pastor of the First Baptist church in Minneapolis, prompted ap- poinltment of an investigating commit- tee at the state Baptist convention inI Rochester yesterday. Reverend Riley charged that the school is "rankly liberal," that many of its faculty members believe in evohftion and that the professors do not teach that the bible is errorless. States seems to be a clamor for the Ie;ti1 iii c nations of Europe to pay, and not fidelity to the highest tradi- tion2 of American generosity and ,Dobll ies, , the rabbi indicated.
