The Skipper included the following men on the roster for the road trip: Captain Doyle, Chambers, Harrigan, Oosterbaan, Rasnick, Reece, Morga- ridge, Ginn, and Schroeder. Due to the ineligibility of both his star guards, Cherry and Molenda, the Skipper is trying every combination to uncover a pair out of the reserve material that will fit into the combi- nation, of Doyle, Harrigan, and Cham- bers. Captain Dick Doyle will prob- ably e used at center at the tiproff and thenddrop back to play one of the guard positions. Benny'Oosterbaan, who is equally adept at center or forward, will prob- ably lplay center when Doyle takes one of the guards. Rasnick who has been improving steadily may get a chance to start at guard or forward. Reece, who has suddenly come to the front in scoring, is suffering from a lame shoulder, but will be ready for action Saturday. Reece and Ooster- baan will prob'ably alternate, if the Skipper decides to use Schroeder or IRasnick. Harrigan and Chambers will start at the forward positions. Frank Har- rigan displayed a great floor game at Syracuse andl against the Minnesota five, and will be a dangerous man for the Hawkeyes to guard. Chambers, with his uncanny eye from long range and his fighting spirit, is a good mate for Harrigan at the other forward. Morgaridge and Ginn may get a chance against the Hawkeyes, unless Coach Barry's men prove too strong. If Matler's team can gain a big mar- gin over the Gophers Monday night as it did in the Minnesota game here, the Skipper will undoubtedly use all of his men. Michigan will have a real task in guarding Phillips, star forward of the Hawkeye team. In every game Phil- lips has been substituted late in the second half, but has led his teammates in scoring in five of the last seven games. In the Minnesota game at Iowa City he sank three baskets as soon as he took the floor. In the Iowa game in Yost field house Phillips dis- played' his ability in scoring and in floor tactics. Captain McConnell and Hogan are two strong guards and have held most of the opponents to low scores. Iowa -has proven that it is a hard team to defeat on its home floor andi will be a dangerous opponent tomor- row night. The Notre Dame five had a difficult time defeating the Hawk- eyes at Iowa City, winning by a score of 17-16. Minnesota is another team that is unusually hard to defeat on their home court. The Gophers have to date a pooi record but have played most of their games on foreign floors. Rasey, star forward of the Minnesota RIFLE TrEAM Members and alternates of the University rife team which fired against West Virginia will re- port as soon as possible to shoot against Michigan State and the University of Maine. The sores for this match must be tablated by Saturday night. Men will also report in advance for the Big Ten matches which I start Monday, Feb. 15. t I - J _3"Xl. t t~L $ Iii % ;. Several midsemnester freshmen are expected out some time this week however as candidates for the team. The seventeen men, who have sur- vived, are: Algyer, Daniels, Gilmartin,I Hadley, McAfee, McDonald, McCoy, Marx, Nisson, Nyland, Palmer, Reason, Rose, Squire, Southworth, Whittle and -ana. This number includes eightI guards four centers and five forwards. McCoy, an all-state man from De- troit Central, has shown a gread of promise at the tip off positio and should make a creditable bid for a place on the Varsity next year. He has speed, a good eye for the basketj and is very aggressive.' Algyer, who played a forward at Luther College, the school at which Franklin Cappon coached football and basketball last year, is also a good, prospect. Of the guards McDonald and Nyland, Kalamazoo, and Daniels, Marian, Indiana, are showing up well. Due to his baseball activities Coach Fisher, has only been taking care of the first year squad at their evening practices with Coaches Blott and Kip- ke taking care of the afternoon ses- sions. The squad isnpracticing at the field house on Monday, Wednesday and Friday evenings and Tuesday andf Thursday afternoons. The drills consist primarily of fun- damental work such as shooting, pivoting and passing formations, and short scrimmages. With only three weeks until the close of the season the coaches will lay more emphasis on individual work. team, has been held scoreless from the floor in the last two games, and is, according to predictions by insid- ers, slated to unexpectedly break into the scoring column. The Badgers have defeated Marquette in two games and have tied with the strong Gopher I sextette in two starts. Last week the Badgers conquered Jamestown, a pow- erful team. Coach Barss has announced that Q] _ Captain Reynolds will take his place at center with Sibilsky and McDuff at the wings, Roach and either Hoop- er or Gabler, pending the latter's elig- ibility, at defense and Weitzel at goal. This lineup marks a change from the one which faced the Lansing team. B McDuff, a member of last year's Var-A'W sity, will play in Levi's place and in case Gabler is declared ineligible, Hooper, a new man will act as Roach's running mate on the defense line. The team has improved a great deal of late and even though the Badgers are being looked to for the Conference honors, they will meet plenty of coin- 'petition. The offense; which was so co rL arl weak at the start of the season, has' been considerably strengthened and On Class Card' The interclass dual swimming and1 water polo tournament, postponed from last semester, will get under way early next week. Seven teams are entered and competition is expected to be very close. Straight elimination contests will be held, and the winning team will re- ceive numeral sweaters. Ten men are allowed for each team, and each class entered must compete in both swim-f 'ming and water polo.# The initial matches will be held at 4:30 o'clock Tuesday, with the fol- lowing teams to compete: literary class, freshman vs. junior, medical school vs. sophomore literary class, sophomore engineers vs. senior eng'- neers.
