I At present of the 15 events on the program,., Illinois holds nine records and Michigan five. One of the records i* held jointly by a Michigan and an Illinois man. It is quite likely that nine of these records may fall Satur- day in the fast competition that is ex- pected to take place. Hester, -if he performs in the same manner as he did against Ohio State, -will undoubtedly clip a tenth of a second off the Illinois dual meet rec- ord of :09.8 for the 100 yard dash, which is held by Ayres of Illinois. The 220 yard dlash might also see a newv record when Hale and Leschinsky m~eet. The former has done :21.1 against Iowa, and if he is running in the same form he will either push i.eschinsky to a new record or estab- lish one himself. The present record of :21.2 is held by Evans of Illinois. The 440 dash will see a battle that should result in the smashing of the existing mark of :49.4, when Fein- singer and Schoch fight it out for first place. Both men have been doing under 50 seconds this season and the' race will undoubtedly be a good one. Both the high hurdles record of :15.4 -held by Johnson of Illinois and the low hurdle record of :24.6 held jointly by Sargent of Michigan and Kinsey of Illinois will be threatened b~y Captain Wallace of. Illinois. It is also likely that the pole vault record . of 12 feet 10i 1-2 inches held by ilrookor of Michigan miay tall when Barnes, and White of Illinois, and Prout and Northrop of Michigan, all of whom are capable of 12 feet G inches, get together. Lyon, the Illinois shot putter, is al- mrost certain to break the existing recordl for that event. The, present1 record of 45 feet 7 inches is held by Shildauer of Illinois, and Lyon has. excelled this. mark on several occas- ions this year. He established records1 at Notre Dame and Iowa in the last two meets that the Indians have com- peted in.' If Hawkins is pressed by Shively of, Illinois it is quite likely that this, present mark of 144 feet, 5 inches will fall. In the Iowa-Illinois meet last week Shively won the hammer with1 a lheave of 151 feet 2 inches, and Ilaw- Akins will be forced to the limit toc defeat him. The two mile race may also see the shattering of a record, as, Callahan has already been clocked in faster time1 than the existing record of 9:42.6 helq by Swanson of Illinois. If White of Illinois is used in the two mile in- stead of the mile he may beat Calla- hlan, or force him to break the pres- ent record.- I Ternon G. Etigar Star Michigan receiver, is, another man to be added to Coach Fisher's al-I ready lengthy list of injured players. Edgar's injury came in the eighth in-j ning of the recent game with Iowa, and he was forced to retire in favor of Davis. FRSHANBLL TEAM DISBANDS FOR SEASON After defeating the fourth year physical education nine by a 4-3 score recently the freshman baseball squad seems to have been developed to the peak of condition and will suspend practice after today. Since the first call for candidates was issued, the original number of applicants has been cut from more than 65 down to less than 25. Coach E. J. Mather has promised that the list of numeral winners ,to be chosen from this number would. be posted tomorrow on the bulletin board. It is expected that about 20 of the yearl- ings will receive the awards. Coach Charles, B. Hoyt, of the first. year track squad, which has already, conui1eted, its training season, also will probably post the list of numeral 1. winners in that sport tomorrow. The; list will surely be posted before Tues- day of next week and will probably contain about 30 names. Walter Gautreaiu of the Boston i Braves is the smallest man in base ball. He is-5 feet, 2 1-2 inches, and weighs 132 pounds., Bryan Harriss, of the Athletics is the tallest, being 6 feet, 6 inches. Patronize Daily .advertsers.-Adv.
