A program for the three days of th meeting, although in no sense formal lhas been arranged. The delegates mei yesterday in the office of Mr. Pardon . the superintendent of the University ,.Building and Grounds department, for an informal discussion of mutual ; problems arising in different phases 01 their work. Following the meeting ,:an inspection was made of the depart- Sment, after which the delegates were taken to the baseball game- This afternoon a similar meeting will be held. A banquet also, is plan- zed, which will be given tonight at the Union. Tomorrow morning the 'superintendents will go to Detroit, where they will make an inspection tour of the Packard motor plant, lunching at 12 o'clock as guests of the Smanagemenit. Appllicants for admission to the new Sindependentreading course, known as Economics 200, are now ready to be in- terviewed by a committee of the eco- nomics department,, composed of Pro- 'fessors Day,'Sharfman, Goodrich, and Dickinson. The small group of jun- s that will be accepted will regis- ter for six.hours credit each semester, and members will be given a large measure of freedom in deciding as well as carrying out their own tasks, ac- cording to the committee announce- ment. The course was inaugurated last fall and in purpose and methods is simi- lar to the h'onor courses, which are given in numerous other colleges, and in the English department here. Such courses have been given in European universities for a -long time. General high scholarship and sev- eral previous courses in economics and other social sciences are the de- sirable qualifications, but other fac. tors will be also taken into account. About 9:30 o'clock Sunday night a motorist called the police de- I partment and informed them that, a man was holding up a couple parked in a car at the south end of Ferry field. The police arrived in time to arrest *intermutte, who upon their approach threw a .30 caliber auto- matic to' the side of the road. The couple, one of them a senior in the literary college, was robbed of someI smaUl change and jewelry. La'st night's holdup was one of sev- eral taking place in the same locality this spring, the victims of which were all couples in parked automobiles. A [ bandit is reported to have held up three cars within a space of a half hour at Ferry field some weeks ago, ,taking money from the men and jew- elry from the women.. His victims will visit the county jail tomorrow, where he is being held under $25,000 bail, and identify him. Robert A. Campbell, mayor of Ann Arbor and treasurer of, the Universi_ ty, has been appointed director of the stock selling campaign to be launched I for the pronosed community hotel. A squad of 160 men have been divided into groups of 40 each to sell the stock under the direction of a captain.
